We are playing in a League Game at HOME against Old Ruts this Sunday, 7th February.

Normal start time of 10am.

2008 / 2009 Season Summary

Our final League position did not truly reflect the progress and efforts made throughout the season. With several new players joining the squad, numbers were up on last season so making competition for places stiff in many positions.

Early season form was mixed, good victories against Twickenham and Crawley were followed by a league defeat to Esher.

After this the players began to settle into some strong form including league wins over Cobham and Old Cats. The Old Cats game showed the progress the players made as we had lost to them in an early season friendly and had to withstand a second half onslaught as Old Cats pressed for tries. Our defence stood strong, weathered the storm and held out for a well earned victory.

The middle part of the season was hampered by poor weather with both fixtures and training being lost to frozen pitches.

The final section of the season saw a mixed bag of results. One of the outstanding performances came against Chipstead in a friendly fixture. The squad numbered an impressive 28 for this game, all of whom got on the pitch for part of the game and the rugby played was breathtaking. Barnstorming breaks were well supported and a hat full of tries were scored.

The league programme yielded one more victory, a comfortable win which ultimately secured our position in the league and our right to play in Surrey 2 next seaon.F urther friendly fixtures saw more victories and the team showed flashes of what they can do.

I would like to thank all parents and supporters for their efforts in the season and the work, time and effort Neil and Niall have put in with coaching. A big thank you goes to Polly for managing the squad she has organised everthing from referees to water bottles with great success. Steve Gauge will stand down from coaching after several seasons, his contributuon to the team has been huge and we are grateful to him.

Our thoughts now turn to next season when we must set out to build on the strong foundations established this year. With continued commitment from the players, this squad will improve and get the results for which we strive. The coaching team welcomes Dave Rickell next season, his experience being of benefit to all.

Mention must go to Declan Williams who, with his blistering pace scored a sack full of tries and earned himself our Player of The Season Award. Rory McNevin took the Merit Award for his consistent enthusiastic contributions to the team effort and to Bradley Lewis who collected the Most Improved Player Award by way of recognition of the progress he has made as an individual this season.

I would finally like to say well done to ALL players, they should feel satisfied with their efforts this season, and feel encouraged to kick on to greater things, and further development both individually and as a squad!

Duty Rota - Watch this space for next season

As you know, we are heavily dependent on volunteers to help run the club.  With this in mind, we are occasionally asked to help with the bar or car parking on a Sunday.

Our thanks to Maria Adaway, Sara McCague, Nina James and Charles Nwufoh who have helped with our rota duties last year.
