Welcome to Warlingham Senior Section
2010 - 2011 Season
This season Warlingham will be building a new young side having lost several leading 1st XV squad members to injury and to higher league sides. Over the summer the magnificent Warlingham Seven’s squad lead by coach Richard Horton won the Surrey Sevens Tournament, the East Kent Sevens held at Dover RFC, The Cider Cup at the prestigious Bournemouth Seven’s, and the Lightwater Sevens held in aid of Help the Heroes. They were also finalists at the Spitfire Sevens and Wasps Sevens.
This season sees the introduction of Derek Child as Director of Rugby. Derek played his rugby at Warlingham, coached Kingston University for many years and well as the highly successful Warlingham Academy which provided many of the current Warlingham Squad members.
Warlingham 1st XV finished 4th in London South East 2 league last season and the 2nd’s won promotion to the strong Surrey Premier League. The 3rd XV remain in Surrey Combination 2 league, the fourths in the Foundation League and the Vets reached the final of the Evergreen Cup.
Maintaining the 1st XV’s position in the London Leagues will prove difficult this season in a league stacked with paid players but as ever the Mighty Warl amateurs will rise to the occasion.
Warlingham RFC’s aim is to develop a successful amateur club, provide rugby for 5s to 65s coupled with a social outlet for all the family, whilst also maintaining our strong historic links with the local clubs and community.
This vision will enable our young players to begin their careers, learn to play at the highest standards and aspire to represent their club or country — whether that be in the Professional or Amateur arenas. This is complimented by a thriving and ambitious club environment for those whose wish is to play the amateur game at adult level, whether that be at the top levels with the 1st ,2nd XV or on a more social footing with our thirds, fourths and vets.
