Welcome to the Under 8s

In the U8’s we currently have approximately 45 very enthusiastic children who attend Tag Rugby training on Sunday morning.  We all meet at 10.00 am until 11.30 am for an hour and half of fun. The session starts off with a warm up, then training and finishes off with all the children having a chance to play a game.

In the U8’s we have children between 7 and 8, therefore some of them have a season or two under their belt.  We aim to provide a safe, active, friendly and most importantly a fun Rugby session every Sunday morning. 

We have head coach Colin McCoy and a number of trained coaches plus lots of parental support who all help with organising the children.  All the coaches and helpers do this voluntarily.  We teach the children the basic skills of ball handling, passing, positioning and team spirit.

During the season we have a number of matches against other clubs either at home or away and also a few festivals which everyone is encouraged to attend.  Unfortunately, the children do need to be over 6 to take part; however we do always look for additional support – cheering on the side line for example.  Children unable to play due to their age are still able to train at the club.

We are a friendly team of U8’s who are members of a very friendly club, we welcome all new families to join us for both Tag Rugby and lots of additional club activities which gives us other excuses to get together for a social.
